In the opening round of the Skyline Conference tournament, the Kean University women’s lacrosse team defeated Mt. St. Mary College 24-8, giving head coach Jordan Trautman her first playoff victory as a head coach in her first season under the helm of the women’s lacrosse team. The win also marks the Cougars’ first playoff win since 2011.

Senior Lyndsey Cannon led the way with seven goals, an assist and five draw controls. Stephanie Tocko, Julie Knodt, Maggie Brocklebank and Samantha Gnapp all had hat tricks in the Cougars’ scoring barrage.

The defense also held Mt. St. Mary College to 19 shots while goalkeeper Jules Keeley made five saves. The defense forced 13 turnovers as well.

Next up for Kean is Farmingdale State in the semifinal round of the conference tournament. Last year, Farmingdale State defeated them 21-5 in the conference tournament and this season the Cougars lost 18-9. This is a huge match-up for the Cougars facing the No. 1 seeded team.

The match is at Farmingdale State at 4 P.M. Thursday.
