GTA V Will Be The Most Expensive Video Game Ever Made

Grand Theft Auto V, the fifth game in the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, is being released next week, and is set to be the most expensive, and most profitable, video game ever made.
Grand Theft Auto is a long running video game series that made its start on the Playstation as a top down driving game. Since then the series has evolved to feature some of the largest worlds and most advanced technology in gaming today. The Grand Theft Auto series has also suffered its fair share of controversies in the past for its excessively mature themes, including a feature known as “Hot Coffee” in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which was an unlockable sex mini-game. Now, the series is once again in the spotlight, but not for sex or violence, but for its budget.
At a reported 170 million pounds (equivalent to approximately $266,917,000) in development and marketing costs, Grand Theft Auto V has a budget that rivals many Hollywood blockbuster films. The last video game to hold the biggest budget title was the previous game in the series, Grand Theft Auto 4.
Not only that, but the game is expected by industry experts to make 1 billion pounds (approximately $1,570,100,000). If pre-orders alone are any indication, Grand Theft Auto V is set to make its budget back on release. Confidence in the game’s sales has caused Take-Two Interactive’s (the parent company of Rockstar, creators of the game) share price to double. Grand Theft Auto V will be available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on the 17th.
