The Best and Worst Outfits of the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
By Brigit Bauma
Once a year, angels in a multitude of colors and styles come together to walk this earth. With extravagant wings and long flowing hair, they bring a little piece of heaven to the fashion world. Of course, when I speak of angels, I’m talking about the Victoria’s Secret Models.
The Annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion show was on CBS at 10 p.m. last night, Tuesday December 10. With some of the most well-known fashion models in the industry, musical guests like Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, A Great Big World and Neon Jungle, and an extravagant venue the show ranked number one last night with 9.71 million viewers in the 18- to 49-year-old range, according to a press release found on TV by the Numbers.
The show cost $12 million last year and it is estimated to have cost around there or more to product the show, according to BloombergBusinessWeek. That doesn’t include the $10 million crystal-encrusted bra worn by Candice Swanepoel. Kept simple with just the addition of long white gloves, Swanepoel opened the show to a playful, beautiful, and sexy night.
Surprisingly, the bra and pantie set worn my Swanepoel was one of the least extravagantly put together outfits. However, extravagant is not always a positive term. Feathered wings, jeweled fabrics, silly balloons, and overall strange ornaments adorned the ladies this year.
In my opinion, the best outfits were found in the “Parisian Nights,” “Birds of Paradise” and “Snow Angels” collections.
The outfits inspired by the French city were the epitome of Paris, in one word, “sexiness.” The collection was littered with tasteful pops of color either subtly, as an accessory paired with a black ensemble, or allover color.
Alessandra Ambrosio wore bright blue bra, pantie, and gloves paired with a dangerously dominatrix pair of black wings. Her outfit oozed sex and danger, while still remaining classy and beautiful. Another outfit that stood out in the “Parisian Nights” collection, was Adriana Lima’s red lacy bra and panty set paired with a pair of large-shouldered red wings. Red has always been known to be fiery hot, but on Lima it practically is Catching Fire status.
The “Birds of Paradise” collection was full of beautiful, brightly-colored feathers and outfits just like the bird the assortment gets its name from. Sweetly allowing Lais Ribeiro, one of the models who couldn’t walk last year due to an injury, to open the collection helped it start off with a bang.
However, the best outfits of the group were worn by Jacquelyn Jablonski and Hilary Rhoda. Both wore outfits that featured a burning orange or flaming red paired with a cool, icy teal. These opposites paired together created a gorgeous and steamy outfit.
Speaking of ice, “Snow Angels”
