Spring is right around the corner and so is warmer weather. After New Jersey’s brutal winter, we are in much need of some warmer temps.

What goes better with nice weather than good food? There are so many places around Kean University that offer an amazing outdoor dining experience along with great food. Some of these places include Millburn Deli, The Sun Tavern, Van Gogh’s Ear Cafe and American Melts.

Van Gogh’s Ear Cafe, located 10 minutes away from campus on Stuyvesant Ave in Union, is a small cafe that offers five different menus, as well as the ability to cater events.

“It’s a really cute coffee shop that offers unique and affordable food,” said Jenna Jones, a senior at Kean University. “The outside area has a really nice ambiance with tons of string lights and lots of plants. They make it really cozy and you feel more like it’s a place to hang out than just a place you are being served dinner.”

American Melts, a grilled cheese joint located in Kenilworth, is all about the comfort food. Their motto is “little shack, big taste” and that definitely reigns true.

“American Melts is the best,” said Francisco Aquino, a senior, at Kean University. “It’s a small place, but awesome comfort food and they have a patio section outside for when the weather is nice. I love going there.”

The Sun Tavern in Roselle Park is the perfect place to grab a slice of pizza and enjoy live entertainment.

“They have such good food,” said Gabby Negron, a freshman at Kean University. “It’s a pizzeria inside with tons of different kinds of pizza and then the outside has a nice patio outside where they have live music.”

Millburn Deli, located about 10 minutes away from campus in Millburn, offers nine different menus, including a vegetarian menu and also caters.

“They are my go to place for salads and sandwiches,” said Shannan McCarthy, a senior at Kean University. “They have such a great patio to sit outside too, I love going there when the weather is nice.”
