Kean students dressed up in their best attire and came with resumes in hand as they headed to today’s career fair in the Center for Academic Success building.

The four-hour long fair, open to Kean students and the public, started at 12:00 p.m. and invited some 47 companies that had tables on all four floors on the CAS.

“I think it’s amazing and really informative,” said senior psychology major Aileen Perez, who was looking for jobs in community service or helping at-risk youth. “It’s good to know that there are jobs out there.”

Many tables found Kean students well prepared and were impressed by what they saw.

“Best looking crowd I’ve seen,” said Ana Galindo, Allstate Insurance’s agency principal, who had seen over 20 people at her table on the fourth floor by about 2 p.m.

Billy Conklyn from Vivint — a nationwide home automation sales company that has four offices in New Jersey — had recruited at several other colleges in the area, such as Seton Hall, Rutgers, and William Paterson, but said that Kean students “seemed most prepared.”

“I’m looking for people that aren’t afraid to fail,” he said, noting that mostly business, marketing and communications majors had come to his table.

This particular fair has always been the largest one on campus annually, although smaller ones with three to five companies are periodically held on campus, said Janice Johnston, manager of career development at Kean.

About 250 students had signed in for the event by 1:30 p.m., said Johnston. About 400 to 500 students have come to the annual career fair in the CAS in previous years, she said.
