Carly Seidel named Kean Woman of the Year
By Ryan Gaydos
Kean University women’s soccer senior forward Carly Seidel was honored Sunday as the Kean Woman of
the Year at the 21st Annual National Girls and Women Sports Day Luncheon at Seton Hall University.
The New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women presents its “Woman of the Year”
awards to student-athletes from each college and university in the state of New Jersey. The winner is
judged on athletic excellence, academic success and community service.
Seidel helped the Cougars cap off a 2012 season winning the ECAC Championship against Richard
Stockton College 2-1. She was named to the NSCAA All-Region team and the NJAC Co-Offensive Player of
the Year.
“I am more than honored to receive this award, and couldn’t be happier with how my senior year turned
out to be,” Seidel said. “I’m very humble and excited to see what my future looks like after college.”
In 22 games this season, Seidel scored 20 goals and recorded six assists. Seidel is hoping to turn pro after
a fantastic career with the Cougars.
