Charles Thielmann Pitches Kean To The Next Round

Kean University baseball continues its roll and its strive to get back to the College Baseball World Series. Charles Thielmann took the mound for the Cougars against Alvernia hoping to keep Kean undefeated in the regional so far.

Thielmann did his part pitching the full nine innings allowing two runs–one earned–on 10 hits striking out four batters for the sophomore’s ninth win of the season. Behind three runs in the first inning and two runs in the latter part of the game, Kean defeated Alvernia 5-2.

In the first inning, a Joe O’Connor doubled to score Nick Ramagli and Andy Lopez then freshman first baseman Sal Taormina singled to score O’Connor. Those three runs for the Cougars set the tone for the entire game.

Tyler Smarslok added a run in the fourth and Ramagli singled Smarslok in the eighth.

Kean faces the winner of Keystone and Ramapo Friday.
