Change has been something that the Kean University community has become accustomed to in the Fall 2020 semester. The Athletic department is one department that has seen a wide variety of changes.
One of these changes is the promotion of Denise Wujciak from the position of Head Athletic Trainer to the Director of Sports Medicine.
Heading into this new role, Wujciak is adding on new responsibilities. According to the release, found on the Kean Athletics website, Wujciak’s responsibilities will include educating students, along with representing Kean University on a variety of COVID-19 National Medical Advisory Groups, restructuring the strength and conditioning programs to better serve our student athletes, incorporating more collaborations with health, counseling, and drug and alcohol services throughout campus, and updating health and safety policies and procedures for our student-athletes.
“I’m still going to be overseeing the athletes and their overall health and well-being,” Wujciak said. “I’m having more administrative responsibilities added to my plate.”
Wujciak’s promotion does not take away from her responsibilities as head athletic trainer, and she is making sure that her responsibilities with the student athletes are kept.
“I always want to do what I can for the student athletes, that’s what’s most important to me, their safety and well-being is my top priority always,” Wujciak said. “The more I can be out there, the more connections I can make to make things better for them and update our policies to make them better, I’m going to do anything that I need to.”
