Kean to Fame to bring the talent for charities

Students will have the opportunity to raise funds for a good cause and compete for top prizes in music, poetry, comedy, dancing and more at a talent show on campus Dec. 1.

Prof. Allison Edgley’s group communication class will hold the Kean to Fame talent show to raise funds for groups including Camp Hope, a summer camp for people with developmental disabilities in Livingston.

The competition will be held in the Miron Student Center’s Little Theater from 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds will also go to the Y.M.C.A and Boys and Girls Club in Union Township.

“It’s just people coming together sharing their awesome talents, raising money for good causes,” said Chelsea Barber, a communication studies major who is part of the Kean to Fame’s public relations team. “And hopefully some sick ass beats.”

The talent show is open to anyone who wants to perform, and those interested can register by emailing KeanToFame@gmail.com.

Judges will include Student Organization Executive Vice President Asa Duggar and John Hurtado, who is co-sponsoring the event and recently held an art exhibit on campus. Tori Cheww, who hosts her own radio show on Spreaker.com and is the creator of Live in Da Trap Magazine, will also serve as a judge.

Admission will be a cash donation of the person’s choosing towards one of the three designated organizations. Visitors can choose to donate to one, or split between the organizations.

The group communication class already started raising money by raffling a donated 40-inch smart TV at Tiffs Burger and Ale House in Union for $20 a ticket. Ten percent of the money earned will be evenly split and donated to the three organizations.
