Kristina Panettiere, a junior at Kean University, is a communications major and making the most out of it! Just this past July, she had the pleasure of interning for the website: www.thecollegetourist.com.

The goal of this website is to attract students and to help them decide which college is best for them to attend. By knowing more about their particular “college town,” students will be able to choose a college more easily.

“I think that [the website] is beneficial because it tells you all about the town,” Panettiere said. “It’s good to know what you’re coming into socially—not only academically—and to be aware of all the different aspects of the town your college of choice is in.”

There are virtual postcards on the website from all different colleges across the U.S. and even Europe. These postcards illustrate the hot spots as far as where to go, favorite places where to hangout, where to eat and any other social aspects of any college of your choice across the globe.

Panettiere’s job consists of PR work, Facebook, Twitter, writing for the blog, managing the blog and generally promoting the website. The blog’s theme changes every day.

On Monday the theme is “travel;” on Tuesday it’s “town Tuesday;” on Wednesday it’s “women at the table, men at the desk,” which focuses on young entrepreneurs; on Thursday it’s “thirsty Thursday;” on Friday it’s “fashion Friday,” which focuses on what everyone is wearing on a particular campus and where to shop to find these items; on Saturday it’s “food;” and on Sunday the theme is always random and fun.
