Since Joe Biden won the presidential election, there has been happiness and anger all across the country from voters.

Throughout the country and in cities such as Brooklyn and Washington D.C. there have been big groups of people celebrating the news of Biden winning, but there are also people who are angry and claiming voter fraud due to Donald Trump not being re-elected.

Jaison Roach, a junior majoring in Biology health professions who was neutral during this election, was also pleased with Biden winning the election.

“My initial reaction was neutral because I honestly didn’t really support either candidate,” said Roach. “But I’d rather have Biden than Trump.”

There are also many people who feel as though neither Biden nor Trump was a good choice to be president.

“I think Bernie would have been a better choice,” said Juan Espinel, a junior majoring in Criminal Justice. “He’s shown to care about the minorities.”

With Biden being elected as our next president, there are now new and big expectations

for him as the new president.

“I know he’ll be a better representation of America than Trump because he’s not as controversial,” said Roach. “Also, he has more political experience, so I do have high expectations for him as leader of the country.”

While the pandemic is still going on, Espinel hopes that with Biden becoming president he will be able to lead the country past the pandemic.

“Hopefully he can help take care of the virus.” said Espinel.

Despite being neutral about both candidates, Roach believes that Biden was the right choice to be the next president.

“I do believe he was the better choice because he shows more concern about things such as the coronavirus than Trump,” said Roach. “I think that’s what we need to get over and prioritize more than anything.”

Joe Biden will be inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States in January 2021.
