Don’t have to be single, why not Mix and Mingle?

During the holiday of love, people tend to forget that there’s more to relationships than just the stereotypical romantic one. In the Hutchinson lounge there was an event held called Mix and Mingle where students had an opportunity to meet with one another and get to know each other in the goal of a relationship.
Whether students wanted that relationship to be more than purely platonic was up to them, students had opportunities at the event in order to build a social network of fellow Kean students, so they could build upon their group of friends or work toward business partnerships.
Mix and Mingle was a student government funded event that also provided catering to it’s attendees in the form of pizza and a lovely chocolate fountain with delicious sweets, with mostly every student that had attended the event was a commuter. The event had been organized by a select number of students, however the individual behind the event had an opportunity to discuss the idea of the event and her goals.
Student at Kean University Dre, a student aid for student government had been the one who came up with the idea for the event and spearheaded it, when asked what the point of the event was she had this to say in response:
“The purpose of the event is to network, building relationships, that could be friendships or even business relationships, it’s basically to gain colleagues for after you graduate, in addition to getting your resume revamped”.
Another individual who had an opportunity to be interviewed was fellow Kean student and worker for the Commuter Resource Center, Philip Martin. When asked if he believed the event would help bring commuters to be more a part of the Kean community, he had this to say:
“Yeah, you feel more like a cougar than a college student”.
