Kean women’s basketball falls short in semifinals

Kean University’s women’s basketball team suffered a loss of 77-71 in their semi-final match-up against Rutgers-Newark on Feb 22.
Throughout the game, Kean led the Scarlet Raiders, but fell short in the fourth quarter leaving the team disappointed. However, the loss will be a motivation for next season.
“I am very proud of our team and our success during the regular season,” said head coach Mandy King. “We were very disappointed in our loss to Rutgers-Newark, but we will use it as motivation to accomplish our goal of winning the NJAC championship and making a great run in the NCAA tournament.”
During the game, sophomore, Marajiah Bacon posted 21 points and junior, Kenya Adams, had a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. But, their efforts were not enough to overcome the surge of the Raiders. Rutgers-Newark had two players record a double-double in Maria Simmons and Shala Glenn. Simmons also led the Raiders in scoring.
The Cougars ended their season in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Semifinals and have an overall score of 16-10 for the season.
