Keep Your Heart Healthy With These Kean Resources

With this week wrapping up American Heart Month, I wanted to use my voice one last time to spread information and resources on what Kean students can do to improve their health. Thankfully, Kean has an involved student body that comes together to better one another.

In a conversation with Dr. Consuelo Bonillas, Health Program Coordinator and Professor of Public Health, we discussed the various aspects of life that bring stress to college students.

“We know that stress, especially for college students, is huge. How do we cope? What resources are we provided at Kean to do what we can?” Bonillas said.

Thankfully, Kean has an extensive event list filled with activities anyone can attend to use as an outlet for stress, breaking a sweat, or just making their day a little bit better.

The Yoga Club of Kean University has organized a community yoga class every Thursday in the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons. In room L-114, you can enjoy the 270-degree view of the Visualization and Immersive Studio for Education and Research.

From 3:20 PM to 4:05 PM every Thursday until May 5, you can learn new yoga techniques while improving your flexibility and strength. Bring your own mat and make sure to have fun!

If you are looking to break a sweat, Kean Programming for Unique and Lively Student Experience (P.U.L.S.E.) is holding a free kickboxing class on Wednesday, February 23 in the D’Angola Gymnasium from 6:00PM to 7PM.

P.U.L.S.E. wrote, “This is the perfect way to get your blood pumping and body moving! We can’t wait to see you there!”

Latin Sorority Lambda Theta Alpha has an upcoming event “Health is Wealth” where they will be vocalizing how important it is to consume healthy snacks. They will also be sharing nutritious snack recipes, which is amazing especially for college students on a budget.

“Health is Wealth” will be hosted in the Miron Student Center Room 515 on Wednesday, March 16 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Healthy snacks will be provided.
