The United States-Iran War has caused the S&P 500 to continue in free fall this past week by 75.28%. Economists are worried that the rapid spike in oil prices speak of general shock and fear across global markets.

As the Associated Press reported, the S&P 500 slipped 0.1% Wednesday, a second day of slower movement following a chaotic stretch due to Iran. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.6%, and the Nasdaq composite edged up 0.1%.

Oil prices also climbed despite the International Energy Agency saying its members will release a record amount of crude from stockpiles set aside for emergencies.

In addition, the DOW Jones Industrial Average saw a decrease from its over 50,000 mark to at 47,417.27 mark as of 7:00 p.m on March 11th. This is a -2.29% decrease in the average over the course of this past week.

However, the Nasdaq Composite saw an increase by over 0.04 holding steady in comparison to Dow and S&P 500 showcasing concerns amongst the market regarding Oil Supply chains being affected. In addition, oil prices are climbing due to conflict around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global and energy shipping route that Iran controls. It is the most concentrated Oil Center in the world.

The Trump Administration has decided to utilize Oil Reserves in response to rising oil prices, with some prices being estimated as being up by $3.00 more than the National Average.

“I filled it up once, and I’ll fill it up again, but right now, we’ll reduce it a little  bit, and that brings the prices down,” President Trump stated during an interview conducted in Cincinnati, Ohio in response to concerns about United-States oil prices back on rise as a response to the United States war with Iran.
