Fraternities and Sororities littered Harwood Arena with tables to attract perspective members at the Fall 2018 biannual event, Meet the Greeks.

All students are encouraged to attend and find a fraternity, or sorority, that suits them by attending either the Fall, or Spring, event.

All attendees were there to ask questions and connect with each organization at their designated table.

Luis Castaneda, a member of Lambda Sigma Upsilon, explained that most of the fraternities and sororities each have their own signature “moves.”.

“Our ancestors could not talk, they had to communicate through dances and body movement, especially in times of enslavement,” said Castaneda.

Castaneda referenced “strolling,” which is done in support of their ancestors.

Femon Padmore, a member of Phi Beta Sigma, said his fraternity opens doors for members, but “you still have to apply yourself and make yourself marketable just like everybody else.”

Padmore, who is on the path to becoming an attorney, says he must “keep his grades up” and “have a great networking system with people who are in that field.”

Students that are interested in Greek Life can find more information about each Greek letter organization at the Center for Leadership and Service, located in Miron Student Center room 219, or within Cougar Link.
