Winning is something that Kean Men’s Volleyball team is not just accustomed to just this year, but for four years and running. On the 11th of April, the Cougars swept Ramapo College 3-0 to win the Skyline Conference for their fourth consecutive time (25-21, 25-23, 25-15).
With this win, Kean joins the likes of Springfield University as the only teams to be in the NCAA Tournament the past four years.
The win was steered by outstanding performance by Senior Outside Hitter Bez Arslani, who had a game-high 13 kills to go along with three blocks in the three sets. This was good enough to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Championship.
Senior Setter Ron Dunn had 33 assists which included four kills on five attempts. Senior John Cunningham tied Freshman standout Jacob Kauffman for the team high of six digs while the Cougars defensive held up at the net, getting 11.5 blocks in the match.
With the win, the team is now 31-4 and a perfect 14-0 in the Skyline Conference for the season. This is the first time in team history that the Cougars have amassed 30 wins in a season.
Kean, who got the 5th seed in the NCAA tournament, will play the No. 4 seed SUNY New Paltz. This quarterfinal match will be played on April 24 at 3 p.m inside Canavan Arena at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
