The start of the new semester brings many back to school events and one of those includes an Open Mic Night.
The event took place in the Cougars Den and took place on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and was hosted by Nu Delta Pi’s president Robert Riccio.
“Open Mic Night is not just for poetry you can do poetry, sing, spoken word.” says Riccio.
The night included performances of song, poetry, and spoken word and during the show they provided snacks and refreshments.
The night started off with a song performance by a graduate of Kean University named Rob Roberto who performed a cover of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”
After the first performance the next few that followed were poetry readings, some of which were written by the performers.
At one point Riccio came up and read a poem that he had written that was about people with disabilities which was important to him because he has two siblings with disabilities.
There were other song performances of songs like Lily Allen’s “Smile” or J.Cole’s “Good Morning.”
