University Relations sent out an email to students, faculty and staff notifying them that President Obama would be at the Five Points area of Union Township on Wednesday, October 15th. They warned of road closings, delays, and detours, especially around Exit 138 on the Parkway.

They advised that anyone traveling to and from campus from around 1 p.m. to 7 p.m should plan an alternate route, and stay away from Magie Avenue, Galloping Hill Road, Chestnut Street, and any surrounding side streets.

According to the Star Ledger, the president will be in town to “attend a private fundraiser benefitting the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.”

UPDATE:

President Obama cancelled his trip to the Union area in order to meet with officials at the White House to address the current Ebola issue in the US. According to NJ.com, the event went on as planned, with attendance by U.S. Sen. Cory Booker as well as  U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.
