New Upper Residence Hall hosts Perfecting my Craft event

“Perfecting My Craft,” was an event hosted at Kean’s New Upper Residence Hall. It was described as, “… residents can express themselves through creating their own holiday Christmas artwork they would like to give as a gift to someone” and was to include painting.
Upon arriving, the event had been changed to “write a personal letter to someone you care about and decorate it for the holidays.” The host, Abraham Alemoh, explained that there were a lack of canvasses as supplies to stay with the original painting idea for the event. Snacks and refreshments were provided.
Alemoh played music via a speaker in the room during the event. Everyone was seemed to be in good spirits sharing in the fun of the activity. At one point, a couple of the students even got up and started dancing on one side of the room. Quite a few students were adding Christmas trees to their letters as well.
My letter was going to be about my Grandfather. He is very dear to me. He is currently in a nursing home. I visit him there every so often, but I feel remorse for not visiting him more often.
Alemoh said that the importance of the letter was “Spreading that holiday feeling of giving to others.”
Once done personalizing the letter, students were to seal it in an envelope and then wrap a bow with a candy cane around it for extra holiday cheer. Hopefully, all who receive their letters will feel that holiday cheer irradiating from those letters.
