Students address issues at Kean

Kean University has been developing throughout the past few years, but now students are finally speaking up on common issues.

With the construction of new buildings on campus, Kean is becoming more appealing to the public eye. Yet it’s the everyday students that see first hand the overlooked issues here on campus.

Laura Medina, Therapeutic Recreation major, states “Kean University should fix the elevator in Hennings Hall, it’s fairly slow compared to the elevator in the North Ave building.”

Hennings Hall was completed around 1998 and later became one of many new academic buildings.

Years later it is now compared to the newer building on North Avenue that is home to the health and computer science programs.

“I commute, so I also feel as though the shuttle bus should stop more at the North Ave building, it rarely ever stops there,” stated Medina. “It typically just stops at Wilkins Theatre leaving students/professors to have to walk in the hot or cold weather conditions.”

The shuttle bus service stops at the following locations Wilkins Theatre, Liberty Hall, East campus, Hennings Hall. Kean Hall, Green Lane and typically run until 10:45 p.m. on weekdays.

New buildings throughout campus are far more technologically advanced than other buildings, with interactive iTouch walls as well as updated equipment for science, design and communication students.

“Some of the equipment was definitely outdated, especially for media and film majors,” states Arnold Hernandez, Sophomore, “we need as much hands-on experience as possible and using the latest equipment will definitely benefit us.”
