Despite the variety of presumptions from the student body, Swae Lee’s concert sold out the day of the show.

October 12-17 was the week of Homecoming here at Kean University with events scattered all throughout the 5 day period. One of those events was a Swae Lee concert taking place in Wilkins Theatre on October 13, at 9 pm.

Opinions on the concert seemed to be split among students. Some, counting down the days until the performance took place, while others had no interest in attending.

The rapper entered the stage with his hit song “No Type”. The theatre filled with cheers, the crowd immediately standing up out of their seats to get a better view. Everyone in the audience stood for the entirety of the performance, which went on for almost a full hour. The whole time, the theatre was filled with amazing energy from the stage to the back of the auditorium.

Every song had the crowd singing along, signifying just how many fans the 28-year-old rapper has at Kean University. Following “No Type”, he performed “No Flex Zone”, “Swang”, “Black Beatles”, “Come Get Her”, and “This Could Be Us”.

After the concert ended, students gathered at the backstage door of Wilkins Theatre to watch Swae Lee come out and drive off. Cheers did not end until he was well out of sight, which leads me to conclude that the first Homecoming concert after two long years was a major success.

Jason Pleitez, President of Student Organization, had a few words to share about the success of this event.

“This was a great time. We haven’t had a concert in over two years. The energy is amazing, it’s Homecoming week, and I’m ecstatic we get to do this in person,”
