Thielmann, Cougars power past Montclair State
By Ryan Gaydos
In a big New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up, the Kean University baseball
team was able to push past Montclair State 8-4 Thursday afternoon.
A double and three runs from Joe O’Connor was a big difference in the game that
allowed the Cougars to win. O’Connor’s 2-for-4 day lifted Kean.
Anthony Fischetti contributed with a run and two RBI. Second baseman Tyler
Smarslok also had two RBI for the Cougars as well.
Starter Charles Thielmann went 8 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on eight hits
including a home run to Montclair State’s Stephen Nappe. Thielmann also struck out
seven batters.
The win marks 11 out of the team’s last 13 games that the Cougars have won
including three straight.
