Two Cougars Earn Weekly Honors

Kean University softball outfielder Meghan Cegielski and baseball outfielder Matt Meleo were both honored by the New Jersey Athletic Conference Monday for their performances last week.

Cegielski was named NJAC Softball Player of the Week. She helped her team to an NJAC championship run but the Cougars fell short 5-4 to Monclair State. She was 10-for-19 during the week with two RBI. Cegielski is also second in batting average with a .401 average this season.

Meleo was named NJAC Baseball Rookie of the Week. The freshman outfielder hit .636 with two RBI during the three games of the NJAC tournament before being swept and eliminated Saturday. All of his seven hits last week came at the leadoff spot in Neil Ioveiro’s lineup.
