For those searching for companionship, a soulmate or a freshly baked treat to bring home to their significant other, there is no shortage of Valentine’s Day events and fundraisers on the Kean University campus this week.
Lambda Delta Chi held an Ice Cream and Friends event Feb. 13 at 8:30 p.m. in Hennings Hall. The organization offered free ice cream to students interested in mingling and meeting new friends, especially those who enjoy the same flavors. Each ice cream flavor represented a different personality trait, said cofounder Kyra Hughes. When two people chose the same flavor, they were paired up.
“We would like for the couple to talk and see if they do have the same interests. The goal for this event is to have people talking and for them to get to know each other,” Hughes said.
Several organizations are hosting Valentines Day bake sales. On Valentines Day, the Kean Dance Theatre’s Valentines Day Bake Sale will take place at 4 p.m. in the Hennings Hall Lobby. Lambda Theta Alpha will also be selling sweet treats at 3:30 p.m. in the Miron Student Center. At 4 p.m., Chi Sigma Iota’s baked goods can be purchased at the East Campus entrance and Delta Phi Epsilon will be having a bake sale in the Hennings Hall Lobby.
The Greek Senate is hosting a Valentine’s Day Celebration in the Miron Student Center Greek Lounge at 12:30 p.m. The organization will be selling and delivering flowers at the event until 5 p.m. All proceeds go to Children’s Specialized Hospital.
Lambda Theta Pi is hosting an event called Be My Valentine, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. in the Miron Student Center, where students can join the fraternity brothers to write a letter for someone special.
With several options for buying treats or mingling, there is a Valentine’s Day event for everyone on campus this year.
