Kean University hosted Women’s Entrepreneurship Week that emphasized many aspects about gender ranging from misgendered identification to “radical women.”

The week-long event, which ran from Oct. 13-19, was the first of its kind at Kean, said Kristofer Berrios, the department assistant for the Center of Interdisciplinary Studies program.

“It was in observance of the (national) week itself,” Berrios said. “To my knowledge, this was the first event like this for Kean. Other universities do participate but this was the first year that Kean participated.”

One event was called “Gender Bender” that allowed students to learn about different gender pronouns and how to use them.

The main event featured self-made entrepreneur, Holly Williams, who created her own brand of handbags named iSii that she sells in a boutique in New York called Radical Women.

Williams advised students to embrace the unknown, focus and work hard.

“Believe in your vision and start,” Williams said.
