“Its a privilege, especially coming from what our program has been through two years ago,” she said. “This year I was blessed to have wonderful teammates, and that helped me actually to get to where I am, and having a wonderful coach as well.”

Owens had a stellar performance this season, scoring a season high 34 points in a win against Rutgers-Camden. She also earned a season high of 13 assists the first game against Hunter College.

Owens spoke on what it took for her to play a splendid season by thanking her peers and believing her coach’s system.

Overall Owens credits three main factors to her recent success.

“The support of my family, friends, definitely my coach,” she said. “I was the only returning player so I was very loyal to her, and her system, trusting what she was gong to bring in.”
