Women’s soccer claims first ever ECAC Metro championship

Kean women’s soccer pulled together Sunday and defeated Richard Stockton College 2-1 in overtime to win the 2012 ECAC Metro championship behind a Carly Seidel game-winning goal.

Seidel was named the Most Outstanding Player for the tournament scoring three goals in two days. Seidel also had a goal for the Cougars in the 50th minute putting the team on the board first.
Cougars’ goalie KC Nunez allowed only one goal from the Ospreys’ Kiera Hines coming in the 88th minute of the game. The Cougars defense held Stockton to only six shots on goal, of those six shots none of them coming in the first half.
Seidel’s two goals on the win marks 20 goals for her on the season in just 22 games played this season. The Cougars tied Richard Stockton in the previous matchup Oct. 2. Deanna Columbia and Julianne Natale both had goals in that game.
This championship marks the first ever ECAC championship in the program’s 30 year history.
