The Kean University Alumni Association will host a networking event on Nov. 3 called “Night of the Stars,” which will allow current students to network with alumni from various fields.

Using a “speed-dating” format, each student will have the chance to speak and network with one alumni at a time to gain a greater understanding of their specific field and any other questions they may want to ask regarding life after graduation, jobs and internships.

“One of the main reasons we’re trying to do this event is because we want to educate the students in the importance of networking,” said Giselle Marmolejos, program assistant in Institutional Advancement for the Kean University Alumni Association. “For them to understand that it is an essential part of their career to be able to make their career goals.”

The event will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. in the STEM building’s sixth floor.

“Most of the professionals that are coming are from a big variety of industries,” Marmolejos said. “We’re covering most of the industries within most majors so for them to be able to know and realize that they have a big pool of sources to get knowledge from within the actual professional careers.”

Confirmed alumni who will be in attendance can be viewed on the Alumni Association’s website.

“I hope both students and alumni are happy with what they have achieved, happy with their connections, happy that they have decided they found the right people to talk to,” said Marmolejos. “That they got to know people worth spending their time with and sharing their knowledge with.”

The event is limited, so guests must register in advance online on the Kean Alumni Association’s website. For more information about the event, email alumni@kean.edu or call 908-737-2586.
