Senior Kevin Herget tossed one of the most important games of the year. In a complete game, Herget struck out eight batters allowing two runs on nine hits and picked up his ninth win of the season 4-2 against Keystone College. The win keeps the Cougars undefeated in the regionals and puts them into the championship game.
Kean scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning after Michael Kendall, Matt Meleo and Tyler Smarslock pushed runs across the plate. Keystone got a runs back in the fourth and seventh innings but could not get anymore against Herget the entire game.
Smarslock finished 1-for-3 with two RBI. Kean only managed two hits against Keystone starter Patrick Robinson. Robinson is now 6-2 on the season.
Kean plays in the final Saturday against either Ramapo, Misericordia and Keystone. The game is scheduled to start a 3:30 P.M.
