Kean Defeats Endicott In Straight Sets; Springfield Next

It was a historic day for the Kean University men’s volleyball team as the Cougars pick up its first NCAA Tournament victory Sunday against Endicott College in straight sets; 25-21, 25-17, 25-22.
Senior Steve Vahalla led the way with 17 kills en route to the victory. Michal Kucza led the team with 11 digs.
The Cougars were locked in a battle with the Gulls as the two teams were tied 13 times in the first set before the Cougars broke off a few points behind Vahalla, Tommy Rosario and John Cunningham. In the second set, a four-point run helped the Cougars win by eight points. Michal Kucza’s serving helped the team to the victory in set two. In the final set, Alex Barnhard and Ed Jedziniak helped pull off a tight set victory to advance.
Kean is now 26-7 on the season but will have to face its toughest opponent, No. 1 Springfield.
The match against Springfield is Friday at 12:30 P.M. The Cougars already lost to the top team in the tournament in straight sets at the beginning of the season.
