Kean University baseball received a plethora of awards Wednesday as the New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its annual award recipients.

Shortstop Nick Ramagli was named NJAC Player of the Year and right-handed pitcher Kevin Herget was named NJAC Pitcher of the Year. The selections for these awards were voted on by the coaches throughout the conference.

So far this season, Ramagli is batting .366/.424/.507 with two home runs and 28 RBI and is one of the best batters in the conference. Herget tied the Cougars’ career mark for wins in yesterday’s win against The College of New Jersey. He is 7-2 with a 1.66 ERA with 84 strikeouts. Both players are seniors and will be graduating after this season.

Ramagli and Herget were two of six players that were voted to the all-conference team as well. Both players were named to the all-conference first team along with second baseman Tyler Smarslok.

Charles Thielmann and Shane Alvarez were named to the second team and Joe O’Connor was named to the third team.

The Cougars take on Richard Stockton Thursday afternoon at home.
