Haitian Student Association (HSA) at Kean

The Haitian Student Association is a club at Kean University that focuses generally on the mixed culture of Haiti. General body meetings occur every Monday in the Miron Student Center (MSC), Room 228 at 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Every Monday, students are given the opportunity to understand and closely examine the issues that occur frequently in Haiti. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in upcoming events on campus that relate to Haiti and its rich culture.

Past events that occurred were the Black Organization Fair that occurred on Feb. 11, the Relationship Etiquette Part Two that occurred on Feb. 11, the hidden history of Haiti film screening and discussion and most recently the night of love that occurred on Feb. 17.

The HSA was also able to host the annual New Jersey Haitian Student Association (NJHSA). The HJHSA is an association that aims to provide educational and developmental leadership opportunities and strengthen the Haitian student population on college campuses across New Jersey.The HJSHA are currently looking for students who are committed, responsible and self-motivated to serve on the conference’s planning committee.
The available committee positions are: Conference Chairman (Chair.) Elect, which is assisting the conference chair in coordinating all meetings assigned by conference chair; Publicist Coordinator, which keeps in contact with all sponsors and media; Media Relations coordination, which promotes information to maintain conference network (Instagram, Facebook and website); Marketing Coordinator, which develops all printed conference materials including registration materials, programs, and flyers; Volunteer Coordinator, which manages all elements of volunteering by recruiting new volunteers; Outreach Coordinator, which oversees the planning of outreach strategies responsible for connecting people in the community; Registration Coordinator, which manages registration process, assists and responds to attendees via phone and email in a timely manner and Sponsor and partnership Coordinator, which creates sponsorship agreements and building relationships with businesses, individuals, and other relevant organizations.
Qualifications to serve on the NJHSA Conference Committee: Must be a student at any college/university in New Jersey, must be available for a mandatory training session and
commitment to attend the tentative conference date Saturday, April 23, 2019.
