This year, with the Spring semester being on campus, there will be more recognition of International Women’s Day in person. Delta Phi Epsilon, a sorority on campus, will be hosting and co-hosting events throughout the month of March for their sorority to help celebrate Women’s History Month. Alexis Reed, a senior history and secondary education major highlight some of the events that will be taking place for Delta Phi Epsilon.

“For the entire month of March, Delta Phi Epsilon will be hosting tabling events that highlight our five founders each week and their amazing contributions to our organization and the world,” said Reed. “We also are co-hosting an event with Kean Dance Theater, the DEI office, and NCNW called “HERstory Month Kickoff” in honor of Women’s History Month.”

Other sororities across campus, such as Nu Theta Chi, will also be having their own celebrations, and have talked about their support for Women’s History Month. Claudia Abrantes, a junior majoring in Public Relations, speaks about the events that Nu Theta Chi will be holding.

“Due to International Women’s Day falling when we have spring break, it makes it tricky to plan a big event to celebrate, so we might have a small celebration instead,” said Abrantes.

“Later in the month, we will be planning an event to empower women, which we are very excited to have.”
