The U.S. News said that approximately 80 percent of new year’s resolutions fail by February but these students managed to beat the odds when asked for an update on their progress.

Lashea Wilson, junior and psychology major said that her New Year’s Resolution was to make others happy and smile more to strangers. She has not been counting on the number of people she has smiled at but she has received compliments because she smiled at them.

Wilson has expressed her delight to see those compliment her and smile back. Things she wants to do better for her resolution is to make new friends as she remains consistent in smiling every day.

“People I don’t normally talk to I want to be friends with. I want to branch out,” said Wilson. “I have a small group of friends and I want more so I want to just branch out more.”

Wilson is considering researching clubs on campus and speaking with her peers in class to accomplish this.

Tiara Muslim, junior and communication/media and film major wanted to make sure her business is successful for her New Year’s Resolution. She also said that she wanted to keep working hard.

“I have been maintaining my new year’s resolutions. I am working very hard to complete them and to keep going strong,” said Muslim. “I am very consistent especially with my business and school work.”

Muslim said that there is always room for improvement with her resolutions but for now things are going just smoothly for her.
