“I enjoy being in person very much. It makes the campus feel more alive and vibrant.” Said, Political Science & History Pre-Law major Chevon Williams.

“I’d say I’m operating at about 90%,” Professor Dr. Eric English said. “I can’t really speak to being in a routine though since I’ve only been on campus 2 days total so far.”

Recently in August, President Lamont O. Repollet gave his 2nd Opening Day Speech at the Wilkins Theatre, which was also live streamed on the university’s website.

The university is currently placing mask mandates in which students and faculty must be wearing masks while they are on campus. On the website, there is a link for the health and safety protocols. According to the New York Times in New Jersey, there have been 17 COVID-19 deaths as of Sep. 18. There have also been at least 2,623 new cases as of the 18th.

The campus had a two-day suspension due to the Hurricane Ida storm. The storm was severe to the point that State Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency. The university notified students and faculty through email about the cancellation. However, food service was still available to residential students.

The university hosted a BID (Bridging the Information Divide) conference on Sep. 17 to support small businesses, students & entrepreneurs who were looking to start or grow a business. The conference was held at Hynes Hall. The keynote speaker was Tiffany Townsend, a Senior Advisor to the National Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration.

The university has also celebrated Hispanic Heritage month, which kicked off on the 15th. The latest event was on the 16th, titled “Marketing Series on Latinx Representation in Media.” The event was held in the Miron Student Center. More events are scheduled for parts of October as well as this month.

The university’s Fall sports have returned to having their games as scheduled. The football team has struggled as they currently sit at 0-2. The group recently lost a home game against Utica College with a score of 27-7 defeat on Sep. 14. Their next two games will be on the road. The Wfield hockey team has got off to a good start so far as they are currently undefeated at 6-0.
